Sports in New York
New York City is a home to the main branch of The National Football League. Although, New York City has a vibrant and distinguished sports history.
The city is also the origin for the headquarters of the National Hockey League,
National Basketball Association, both Major and Minor League Baseball, Women’s National Soccer League and the Major League Soccer.

known as one of the four Grand Slam Tournaments. New York City Marathon is also famous throughout the world.
Boxing is also the vital part of the city’s sport’s culture. The Amateur Boxing Golden Gloves Tournament held at the Madison Square every year.
In the year 1984, the New York City also hosted the 1984 Summer Paralympics. In 1996, the city hosted the World Cup of Hockey and the 1998 Goodwill Games.
Major League Sports
BASEBALL
There are Two Major League baseball teams, New York Yankees and the New York Mets which represents New York.
The city was the homeland of the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers which were later changed to the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers respectively. on the other hand, is most widely played amusement sports in the city and professional basketball is also widely followed. The New York Knicks
and the Brooklyn Nets are the two traditional teams of the National Basketball Association. These teams were the first to represent Brooklyn in over 50 years after their migration to the New Jersey for the NBA series. There is also a Woman’s National Basketball Association team known as New York Liberty.

Ice Hockey is also one of the most widely popular sports. There are various teams of Ice Hockey representing different boroughs and cantons of New York. The New York Rangers are the part of National Hockey League representing Manhattan.
SOCCER
There are three teams representing New York in Soccer in the top divisions for men and women in conjunction with New York Red Bulls, New York City FC
of Major League Soccer whereas the Sky Blue FC of the Women’s Soccer League
. The Red Bulls plays at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. The New York Yankees joined the Major League Soccer in 2015 and a new team New York City FC is owned by Manchester City FC.
